Preview: Liverpool Vs Leicester City

Leicester City face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Prenton Park in a vital game for the Foxes' hopes of survival in the WSL.

Leicester are looking to close the gap between themselves and the three teams sitting above them. All three points against Liverpool would leave City on six points and just one point behind Reading.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be looking to take all three points to push them further away from the danger zone. The Reds are currently sat 8th in the WSL, but are just two points from 9th place Tottenham and three points ahead of 10th place Brighton.

Leicester will also be hoping to increase their amount of goals scored (five) against Liverpool, which is currently the least amount of goals scored by a team in the WSL so far this season.

Leicester were beaten 2-0 by two second-half Manchester City goals in their last outing in the WSL. Matt Beard's Liverpool won 2-0 against a struggling Reading team, which pushed them further away from what could be a tough relegation fight between the bottom four teams.

Manager Willie Kirk said Ruby Mace will be available and Monique Robinson will return to the squad after an ankle knock.

Liverpool will be without Niamh Finney and Carla Humphrey, who is suffering a concussion. Shanice Van de Sanden and Leanne Kiernan have also been ruled out.

Leicester City Women's Head Coach Willie Kirk said he feels confident his team will come away with all three points.

"If we play at the level we've shown against the likes of Brighton, a real top performance and a top result and we've done our homework properly, with a really good training week we feel we can feel we can win it."

Foxes' midfielder Molly Pike says the team are optimistic about survival.

"Everyone feels like we are going to stay up. We know the games are important and yet the vibe around the training ground is really good."

Sunday's match is available to watch on the FA Player, with coverage beginning just before 2pm kick-off.
